Any business website needs all the traffic they can get; a higher page rank means increased visibility as well. If the visitors to your site are just trickling in, you can increase targeted traffic and page ranking without spending any money!

You know that making sales requires lots of targeted traffic; below are some tips that will help you attract visitors that need what you have to offer.

Drawing traffic through SEO

Proper optimization of your website is essential to ranking highly with the search engines. This requires both on and off-site tactics to be most effective.

1. Choose keywords carefully. In order to pull in a good amount of targeted traffic, look for keywords that are tightly focused and less general. By doing this, there will be less competition and it will be easier for you to rank with the search engines.

2. Write informative, original content for your pages and include the keywords you have chosen throughout the page; a keyword density of about 2% to 3% is usually effective.

3. Make sure your meta description, meta keywords, page titles and other aspects of your pages are properly formed.

4. Build quality one-way links pointing to the pages of your website. This can be done through articles, blogging, commenting on other blogs, forum marketing, social networking, submitting to high-quality directories.

Sending targeted traffic to your website through content

Article marketing is one of the most popular free methods today for sending targeted visitors to your website and building your reputation as an authority in your niche. By writing good articles and submitting to article directories, you will get traffic in several ways.

First, the article directories allow you to link to your website from your author resource box. Write a compelling article that captures the interest of the reader, and they are likely to click through to your site from your signature. The purpose of article directories is to offer content for webmasters for use on their websites; when your articles are placed on other people’s websites, you are likely to draw traffic from those sites as well. Additionally, many links to your website coming from these other websites help increase page rank.

By linking from your article to your website with your chosen keyword as anchor text, you are helping to build page rank.

Blogging, social networking and forum marketing are other free methods you can use to build interest in your website. Search engines love blogs because they offer unique content and are frequently updated. Social networking is huge today; join some of the popular sites and engage in the conversations. Forum marketing also allows you to become known as an “expert”, and you can usually link to your website in your signature. Good use of keywords in these links are also useful in search engine ranking.

As you can see, there are dozens of tactics you can use to increase page rank and drive targeted traffic to your website. The only cost is a bit of your time! Put these methods to work in your business and you will see an increase not only in visitors, you will see an increase in profits as well.

    2. Thanks for this post.

This is why we decided to re-do & re-launch our website.

It now has a blog element to it so it can help us with keywords that will be sprinkled in our posts: descriptions of videos & articles.

Before the re-launch, we were at the mercy of the previous hosting provider. Now, with the help of our marketer, and GKIC member (of which I am, too) Kevin Puls, SEO is a bit easier for us to manage.

As a Fitness Center locacated in the Geater Philadelphia Area, we offer group training sessions (classes) for: pilates, strength, Zumba(TM), and post-rehab.

      Thanks again!

    4. How about domain aging? Does it counts?

    5. admin admin says:

Domain age is a def factor. If you can find a good domain name even just a few years old, you have a leg up for sure.

Anchor text in your link is very important, and it must be relevant to your site.
The best way to increase rank that I have found so far is to add fresh original content at least once a month. One a week is even better.

    7. I’m extremely inspired with your writing talents as neatly as with the layout for your blog. Is this a paid subject matter or did you modify it your self? Either way stay up the nice quality writing, it is uncommon to look a great blog like this one nowadays..
